Week 22 Update

Total Weight Gained: 17 lbs

Stretch marks?: None yet. Keepin’ that cocoa butter flowin’! Also the “stretch marks” I thought I was getting on my boobies are not stretch marks. The skin is just stretched really thin (because trust, my poor boobs have never been this large in their whole life) so it kind of looks like stretch marks. SEXY, RIGHT!?!?!?!

Belly Button Inny or Outtie?: Still inny. Although when I wear tight maternity tops it looks like I have a swimming pool in the middle of my stomach. Again, super hot.

Maternity Clothes?: I bought a few more things this past weekend with my Mom! I really love getting maternity shirts from Ross! I bought 2 short sleeved shirts (coral and mint<–which I’m wearing in the pic above), a three-quarter-length red striped shirt and a black and grey leopard print tank top. All of them were under $8 each! Scooore.

I also got a good pair of pregnancy yoga pants that are super long. LAHV THEM. I finally broke down and bought another pair of work pants from Kohls too.

This weekend I will be on the hunt for jeans…if I am successful in my journey I will cease purchasing maternity shizz (unless there is a really good deal…or I have somewhere special to go…or I just wanna shop).

Symptoms: Heartburn decided to really come into play this week a few times. It was not fun, but also not the worst heartburn I’ve ever had (hello Dewey beach 2012…day drinking+oldness=HEARTBURN).  I’ve also gotten a stitch in my lower abdomen, typically on the right side, a few times this week. I have an appointment with my doctor Monday so I’m going to ask him what the heck that is. Any ideas?

A few days I’ve woken up feeling really tired, even if I get a good amount of sleep. These days I’m so sluggish and my stomach feels SO HEAVY…like I’m lugging around 15-20 extra pounds (oh wait…).

All in all though I’m really feeling fine! Hearing some other women’s stories about their pregnancies has really made me appreciate how easy mine has been so far.

Mood/Emotions: Nothing too wild here, oddly enough. I’d always thought I would be a complete psycho during pregnancy (since I’m teetering on that label as a non-pregnant person) but my emotions have been pretty level thus far. There’s still plenty of time for crazy though :)

Sleep: Jon had surgery last Tuesday on his shoulder, so sleeping in a bed has been pretty much impossible for him. He’s been sleeping in the living room on the recliner (with Wrigley), so I’ve been sleeping on the couch next to him.

The first night I decided to be nice and sleep near him because I didn’t want to leave him when he was feeling so crappy. Then I realized how effing comfortable the couch was, and how I rarely woke up straight on my back, so I decided I’d continue “being nice” for awhile (ha!). We’ve slept in the living room for over a week now, and we both kind of love it. Now we’re deciding whether or not to turn our old bedroom into a weight room or an office (jokes…kinda).

Movement: I’ve been feeling the same kind of stuff this week as the last. Nothing incredibly jarring, but a few wiggles here and there.

Gender: B-b-b-boyyyyy!

Names?:  Still Henry. After announcing his name to the world (aka whoever reads this blog) no one came to me with a petition to change it…so we’re going with it.

Cravings: Nothing crazy this week. Appetite wise, I’ve actually felt pretty normal this week!

Things I Miss: Kind of starting to miss having a glass of wine or a beer here and there, but nothing rehab-worthy.

Workouts This  Week:
1. 40 minute pregnant lady workout DVD
2. 20 minute incline walk + 12 minute elliptical + 10 minute biking
3. 20 minute elliptical + 10 minute

I really liked the pregnant lady workout DVD I did this week. Jon got it for me and at first I was like “WHATCHU TRYNA SAY?” – then I got off my crazy high horse and thanked him! It was great workout, the moves varied a lot (which kept me from getting bored), and the chick doing it is totally preggers too, so she gets it.

I also found this week that doing anything (walking, biking, elliptical) for more than 20 minutes straight is HARD. I usually have to get off the machine after 20 minutes and either stretch or take a short break. Ain’t no shame though…I’m growing a human, ‘member?

Next Doctors Appointment:
Monday! I’m really excited! It’s been too long since we’ve heard Mr. Henry’s heartbeat!

Other Notable Happenings: Last weekend Mom and I went shopping and bought a LOT of cute baby stuff! Here’s a little peak:

Jon and I also did some shopping last night and got some really great things. My parents are coming over this weekend and we plan to partake in even MORE retail therapy! YAHOO!

I plan on doing a post about all of our purchases soon. We’re pretty cheap frugal people, and we’ve been pretty successful so far at getting the things we need at a reasonable price, so I’ll share with you how we did it!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Just found your blog and love it! So much fun! I am pregnant, too. Due June 2nd, so just a bit ahead of you. I love finding fun new bloggers that are also preggers!

    • Katy says:

Congratulations Deneene! I also love finding other bloggers who are pregnant too :) I can’t wait to check out your blog!

I plan on buying as little maternity clothes as I can get away with. I did buy a belly band so I can wear my jeans without buttoning them. I need to go through storage and pull out all my longer, loose fitting tops to see how much I have that can cover a growing belly but I agree with you completely on not buying more clothes when they’ll just end up in storage. Plus we’ll be bigger in the cooler months so baggy oversized sweats/ loungewear are normal wear that time of year anyways and you can always buy maternity tops cheap online.

    • Katy says:

Catherine – I used a belly band too for as long as I could, but it got to a point where maternity pants were much more comfortable! I have 4 pairs of maternity bottoms (2 dress pants from Kohls and 2 jeans from Motherhood Maternity) that I LOVE. I also bought a ton of Matenrity tops for cheap (all <$10) from Ross! There are also a few pre-pregnancy shirts that I can still rock and trust me…I’ll be rockin’ them as long as I can!
